Karimjee Residence

For a family of four, the Karimjee dwelling, a project that included the entire interior design of the home, was started. This family had been living in Africa before moving to Karachi to be closer to their family home. Their return brought a plethora of nostalgic items and treasured things, inspiring many discussions over dinner about their ideal living space.

The clients were open to taking an experimental and colourful approach, which gave us a blank canvas on which to express their design goals. Most notably, we used Sage Green to decorate the entryway staircase with ornate panelling. As soon as one walks into the house, their eyes are pulled to a tasteful royal blue wall that is decorated with floating shelves ideal for storage. It is noteworthy that their daughter Maria, a voracious reader and writer, found her own unique niche in the form of a specially made lounge wall covered in a wide variety of books.

This project was an example of a deft and clever use of colour, which skillfully balanced several design components to bring the complete living area together.
